Tree fall damages house at Carambolim, Faldessai assures help in repair
PANAJI: A Pipal tree collapsed on a house at Carambolim in the wee hours on Sunday, causing substantial damage to the structure.
The house belongs to Meghnath and Datta Murgaokar who reside at Sakle Bhat.
Luckily, no one was injured in the incident.
Cumbarjua MLA Rajesh Faldessai immediately rushed to the site to take stock of the situation and assess the damage.
Fire and emergency department personnel from the Old Goa station also rushed to the site and began clearing the fallen branches from the rooftop along with the help of locals.
The roof of the house sustained damage, while many Mangalore tiles were broken.
The tree also snapped power lines, cutting off electricity supply in the locality.
Faldessai has assured to provide all the necessary help to the house owners in undertaking repairs.
Ex-sarpanch of Carambolim panchayat Kushta Salelkar along with John Borges were present.
Over the past few days, the state has witnessed heavy rainfall, with many incidents of uprooted trees reported.
