New Delhi, May 20, 2025: The renowned American magazine TIME has released its inaugural ‘TIME100 Philanthropy 2025’ list, recognizing 100 global figures shaping the future through philanthropy and social service. Among those honored are Mukesh and Nita Ambani, making it a moment of pride for India.
Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, and Nita Ambani, Founder and Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, donated ₹407 crore (approximately $48 million) in 2024. This not only placed them among India’s top donors but also highlighted their philanthropic vision on a global scale.
The Ambanis’ philanthropic initiatives are transforming the lives of millions across India in areas such as education, healthcare, women’s empowerment, rural development, sports, and disaster relief. Their efforts include scholarships for students, career training for women, support for sustainable farming in rural areas, water conservation, hospital construction, eye care services, and strengthening school infrastructure.
Nita Ambani, a successful businesswoman and co-owner of the Mumbai Indians cricket team alongside her son Akash Ambani, plays a crucial role in nurturing sports talent. Under her leadership, the Reliance Foundation provides world-class facilities and science-based training to athletes, with a special focus on women. “Building a career in professional sports is tougher for women, which makes their success even more remarkable,” says Nita Ambani.
Their inclusion in ‘TIME100 Philanthropy 2025’ is a testament to the growing global influence of Indian philanthropy. The contributions of Mukesh and Nita Ambani are not only inspirational but could also serve as a milestone in driving meaningful social change in the future.
