In a significant operation, Anjuna Police dismantled an online gambling ring operating out of Flat No. 303, D Block, Royal Assagao Resort, Assagao, Bardez, Goa. The raid, conducted early on Wednesday morning, resulted in the arrest of twelve individuals and the seizure of equipment used in the illegal operation.
According to the police report, the operation was initiated based on specific and reliable information indicating that the flat was being used as a hub for online gambling activities. Upon entering the premises, officers found the accused engaged in online gambling transactions amounting to ₹3,50,000.
The arrested individuals have been identified as: Asalam Mohammad, Mohmed Hussain, Vaseem Mohammad, Ayan Ali Bukhari, Azaan Irfan Nagori, Vahora Mohammad Abdulkarim, Vahoram Salimbhai, Mehon Alfaz Abdulrasid, Pathan Dilshan Khan, Mohammad Afzal Khan Sorgar, Mohammed Inayat Shah, and Sharafat Khan Bhishti, all hailing from Rajasthan and Gujarat.
During the raid, police seized seven laptops, eight mobile phones, and other gambling-related paraphernalia. These items will be used as evidence in the prosecution of the case.
The Anjuna Police Station has registered a case under Crime No. 37/2025, invoking Sections 3 & 4 of the Goa, Daman & Diu Public Gambling Act, 1976. This Act prohibits gambling in public places and makes provisions for penalties for those found in violation.
