Panaji: Companies should render assistance under Corporation Social Responsibility (CSR) to the people in their locality which will strengthen the relationship between the community and industry, said chief minister Pramod Sawant.
He was speaking at the laying of the foundation stone of the new Old Goa Police Station on the occasion of the birthday of Goa Rehabilitation Board Chairman and Cumbharjua MLA Rajesh Faldessai. Also present were social welfare minister Subhash Phaldessai, MLAs Krishna Salkar, Kedar Naik, Chandrakant Shetye as well as Goa DGP Jaspal Singh and others.
A tempo traveller was also donated to the Old Goa Police Station as well as 3 sheds in Cumbarjua constituency by Deccan Fine Chemicals, Corlim under CSR.
“I thank Deccan Fine Chemicals for donating the vehicle and sheds for the constituency. Companies need to render assistance under CSR to the people in their locality which will strengthen the relationship between the community and industry. The Old Goa police station building was a long pending demand. Faldessai has been continuously following up on the project. We are working to provide adequate infrastructure to the home department across the state. Old Goa is a tourist destination. Next year, the Exposition is set to take place here, which will be an international event,” he said.
Faldesai thanked the chief minister for sanctioning the project to build a new police station for Old Goa, which was a long pending issue.
“We expect the work to be complete in the 7 months, which is expected to be taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 3.5 crore by the PWD. We expect the work to be complete before the Exposition. The shifting of the police station will be finalised in the next few days,” he said.
He also said that since joining the BJP last year, a lot of development has taken place in the constituency.
“This was a collective decision taken by the people and the workers. Development is being taken up across the country at a fast pace under the leadership of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he added.
Other events that the Cumbharjua MLA also attended during the day included the inauguration of the beautification of Haath Katro Khambb, laying of the foundation stone of DI/HDPE pipeline at Kadamba Plateau, laying of the foundation stone of Corlim panchayat ghar, the inauguration of Corlim beautification at Keni Colony, laying of the foundation stone of Sulabh toilet, Carambolim, laying of the foundation stone of DI pipeline, Divar, inauguration of a new transformer at Bhakra Divar and inauguration of Cumbharjua Sangod Shed.
