Aam Aadmi Party on Wednesday condemned the BJP government for considering amending the Goa Municipalities Act and claimed that democracy is being killed by the BJP government.
AAP Goa Unit President Adv Amit Palekar stated that Dussehra is meant to kill evil forces; however, the BJP is trying to kill democracy. All of the BJP’s activities, from buying MLAs to making policy amendments, are done through the backdoor entry.
According to Palekar, the BJP government has already undermined democracy by buying 8 MLAs from Congress. At present, they are attempting to destroy the democratic process at the grassroots level. All of these tweaks were done to end the opposition.”
Palekar called on CM Pramod Sawant to explain the significance of amending the Goa Municipalities Act.
AAP Velim MLA Engr Cruz Silva said, “Democracy is in danger under the BJP government. The BJP government is trying to end the opposition through Operation Lotus. However, the AAP leaders will join forces to oppose this”.
AAP Benaulim MLA Capt. Venzy Viegas has strongly condemned the backdoor entry of the ordinance and asserted that the BJP and Congress are working together to sabotage the democratic process. “The AAP, however, will keep speaking out against government misconduct”, said Viegas.
