1 st West Zone Elite Men’s & Women’s Boxing Championship will commence today, December 2 at at Salvador-Do-Mundo boxing Court, Panchayat Building organized by Goa Amateur Boxing Association, in association with Sports Authority
Of Goa. Gujarat, Maharashtra, Daman and Diu and Dadra Nagar Haveli, and Goa will compete in 8 men’s and 5 women’s weight categories. Sports Minister, Govind Gaude will preside over the inaugural function along with Sarpanch Roshni Sawaikar. “We are organising this
championship in a short notice to give our Goan boxers exposure in the Olympic weight categories that will also feature in the National Games to be held in Goa,” said director competition Ninil D’Souza. The technical director for the competition, international technical official Lenny D’Gama who will be assisted by will Lt Col. Anupam, officer-in-charge, Army State institute, Pune. The finals will be held on Saturday, 3 rd December followed by medal ceremony.
