The Tourism Department on Monday afternoon carried out a joint inspection on the Beaches of Hollant, Velsao and Cansaulim to enhance the facilities available
Tourism Department engineer Kiran Kumar Naik said that plans were afoot to provide Illumination, Benches, Toilets, Changing Rooms and CCTV cameras provided sufficient land was provided.
” The MLAs had a meeting with Tourism department to develop coastal beaches and it was decided to have an inspection and this is the reason we are here. We want to develop good facilities to boost tourism activities and have tourism patrolling also on the beaches” said Naik
Meanwhile social worker Roquezinho Dsouza said that he had requested Cortalim MLA Anton Vas to take up various issues plaguing the Veslsao Beach with the Tourism Department.
” We have seen that there are a lot of tourists coming on this beach but there is no parking facility available and people park cars hap hazardly on the access road making a lot of congestion. We also have seen that the beach needs to renovate the Beautification and set up benches and have toilet facilities for tourists. We also need changing rooms and require ample parking space. We have seen that there have been murders in the locality and there is an urgent need to have CCTV Camera on the secluded section of the beach and even install CCTV on various institutions like Convents along the way to the secluded portion of the beach” said DSouza
