Political Pulse Of Goa Series: Shiva Sena
The Shiv Sena story in Goa is one of peripheral existence. The party never worked towards building a base in the state despite having a presence dating back to several decades. The party has always been helmed by activists and other crusaders but never really built a mass base in the state that was big enough to win elections. Back in 2012 the Shiv Sena was in an alliance with the MGP and the Goa Suraksha Manch but wasn’t able to make an impact either.
This time round the party is in alliance with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) as the two are alliance partners in Maharashtra. The party has also famously withdrawn its candidate for Panjim Shailendra Velingkar in support of Utpal Parrikar.
However, it is not expected that the party will see anything different this time round much like previous terms won’t win any seats or have an impact on any seats in the state.
