On February 1, 2025, Mapusa Police registered a case following a burglary at a villa in Parra, Bardez, Goa. The incident occurred on January 31, when unknown assailants forcibly entered the property and stole diamond earrings, a gold bracelet, and ₹10,000 in cash belonging to the complainant’s wife.
The investigation was prioritised under the leadership of Dy. SP Sandesh Chodankar and PI Nikhil Palekar. A team was formed that included PSI Vishal Kuttikar, PSI Ajay Dhuri, and other officers. Through human intelligence and technical resources, they apprehended 28-year-old Pundalik Laxman Chavan, a history-sheeter with prior involvement in theft cases across Goa and Karnataka.
Chavan was found in possession of stolen items valued at ₹7 lakhs, including a pair of diamond earrings and ₹8,000 in cash. The ongoing investigation is being supervised by PI Nikhil Palekar and SDPO Sandesh Chodankar, with overall oversight from SP North Akshat Kaushal, IPS.
