Police Report: Narcotics Raid in Verna Leads to Arrest of Suspect

Verna, Goa – The Verna Police Station has registered a significant case (FIR No. 108/2024) under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act following a successful narcotics raid on November 30, 2024. The operation took place between 4:43 PM and 6:45 PM at an open ground in Old Mardol, Verna, where police apprehended a suspect identified as Rohan s/o Teju Prasad Bind, a 26-year-old resident originally from Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh.

Acting on reliable information, the Verna Police conducted the raid and discovered Rohan in possession of approximately 4.255 kilograms of suspected ganja, valued at around ₹4.25 lakhs. The narcotic substance was seized in accordance with the provisions of the NDPS Act, and a panchanama was duly conducted to document the findings.

Following his arrest, Rohan Bind was presented before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) in Margao, who remanded him to five days of police custody for further investigation. The case is being handled by PSI Ramchandra Naik of the Verna Police Station, under the supervision of Smt. Sunita Sawant, Superintendent of Police (SP) South, and Shri Gurudas Kadam, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Vasco.

This operation underscores the ongoing efforts of local law enforcement to combat drug-related offenses and maintain public safety in the region. Further investigations are underway as authorities continue to gather evidence in this case.
