Police Report: Burglary at Ganga Metal Shop Leads to Arrest

Verna, Goa – The Verna Police Station has registered a case (FIR No. 108/2024) under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act following a burglary at the Ganga Metal Shop located on Station Road, Margao. The incident occurred between the evening of November 29 and the early hours of November 30, 2024.

According to the complaint filed by Vinod, a resident of Good Luck Building near Power House Circle, Margao, unknown assailants broke into his shop by forcibly opening the shutter. The thieves made off with copper and brass vessels and other items valued at approximately ₹1.10 lakhs.

The police have launched an investigation into the matter, led by PSI Shubham Gaunkar from the Margao Town Police Station. In a swift response, law enforcement officials arrested an individual in connection with the crime. The accused has been remanded to five days of police custody by the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) in Margao.

In a related development, police recovered approximately 4.255 kilograms of suspected ganja during their investigation, valued at around ₹4.25 lakhs. This significant find underscores the ongoing efforts of local authorities to combat drug-related crimes alongside property theft.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to gather more evidence and apprehend any additional suspects involved in this burglary.
