NEW DELHI:

The CM said that the farmers’ struggle forced the Centre to bow down and withdraw the three farm laws, this is a huge victory for democracy. He said that it is the people who rule not the leaders and it is the farmers who have proved to everyone that governments will always have to listen to the public in a democracy. The CM added that today is a golden day in the history of India and will be written with golden letters in the chronicles of Indian history like 15th August and 26th January. He talked about how all sorts of attempts were made to break the spirits of the farmers by calling them terrorists, Khalistanis and Anti-Nationals but like the freedom fighters, the farmers fought and won the fight. The CM expressed grief and said that if these laws were withdrawn earlier, lives of 700 farmers who martyred in the movement could have been saved. The CM further said that he salutes all the farmers who martyred in the movement and bows down before their families for their supreme sacrifice. Shri Kejriwal further talked about how today’s day is a lesson for the children and youth of our country that if you fight peacefully with the right intention, then no matter how difficult or far the destination may be, success will be achieved.
This struggle united the whole country and farmers have created history today: CM Arvind Kejriwal
Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal, while addressing an important press conference today after the announcement of the withdrawal of three black agricultural laws by the Central Government, said, “today’s day is a golden day in the history of India. This day will be written with golden letters in the chronicles of Indian history like 15th August and 26th January. The central government had to finally bow down in front of the farmers’ tireless struggle and withdraw all the ‘kaale kanoon’ or the three farm laws. Today it is not only the victory of our farmers, but today democracy has also won a huge fight. The farmers have proved to all the governments that in a democracy, the governments will always have to listen to the people. Only and only the will of the people will rule. Be it any party or leader, your arrogance will not work in front of the public. It was such a struggle that united the whole country. In this fight, along with the farmers, everyone, including the labourers, women, arhatis and shopkeepers, took part. Be it Punjab or Uttar Pradesh, Bengal or Kerala, the whole country stood with the farmers. All the Indians living in the country and abroad became one and together they created history today. Those who raised above the lines of religion and caste together fought this battle against all three laws on the roads and in the end the central government had to bow down in front of them today. Today all those people have won.”
Every possible effort was made to break the movement, but the government could not break the confidence and spirit of the farmers: CM Arvind Kejriwal
Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal further said, “in the history of the whole world, there would hardly have been a movement bigger or longer than this. Millions of people fought in such a peaceful manner. In the harsh sun, in the rain, in the cold, they did not back down. The whole system did its best to break this movement, all sorts of efforts were made by the government, and its agencies yet they could not break it. They called farmers terrorists, called them Khalistanis, called them anti nationals. All kinds of attempts were made to break the spirits of the farmers by trapping them by all means. But it was also a fight for freedom for the farmers and today, like the freedom fighters, the farmers fought and won this fight. The water of all the water cannons dried up in front of the strong courage of the farmers. The laathis of the government were left broken. All their tricks fell flat, but the government could not break the confidence and spirit of the farmers.”
It is very sad that more than 700 farmers lost their lives in this movement: CM Arvind Kejriwal
The CM added, “One thing pains me that more than 700 of our farmers lost their lives in this movement. This could have been avoided had these laws been rolled back earlier; their lives could have been saved. Our brothers and sisters did not need to suffer in the cold, in the rain, in the sun, sitting on the roads for so many months. Today more than 700 farmers lost their lives. More than 700 families were destroyed. After all, for what? I salute these martyrs, bow down to their families. I pray to Waheguruji to bring peace to these families and shield them from difficulties. This country will never forget your sacrifices. Today’s day is a lesson for the children and youth of our country that if we fight peacefully with the right intention, then no matter how difficult or far the destination may be, success will be achieved.”
