Goa Trinamool Congress leaders launched a scathing attack on the Atal Gram Development Agency Goa’s Chairman Subhash Velip on various issues, including lack of infrastructure, poor development, and failure to ensure proper development in Netravali. Goa TMC General Secretary Rakhi Naik & Pratibha Borkar along with Goa TMC spokesperson Ana Gracias demanded AGDAG Chairman’s resignation at a press conference held at the party office in Panaji.
Highlighting the failure of the BJP-led government to cater to the developmental needs of Netravali, Goa TMC General Secretary Rakhi Naik said, ‘In 2012, the then CM Manohar Parrikar had assured the people that Netravali will be developed as a Model Village and a sum of 10 crores were sanctioned. Since then there has been no development whatsoever.’ She further added, ‘Subhash Velip, the chairman of AGDAG has completely abdicated his responsibility to implement the scheme in the area.’
Reminding the people of Subhash Velip’s incompetency, Rakhi Naik asserted, ‘The chairman has failed to implement the flagship scheme in Netravali, Rivona, Pirna, and Nagarganv. In 2016, the Netravali panchayat decided to construct washrooms and shops at Margwada to create employment and generate income. Despite being aware of the poor quality of construction neither the Panchayat nor the Chairman have taken any actions against it.’ She added, ‘It’s a gross misuse of public funds.’
Slamming Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for failing to ensure completion of Balwari construction, Naik highlighted, ‘Despite the CM laying the foundation stone last year, the government has failed to even initiate the construction of the Balwari. Thus exposing the hollow promises made by the CM.’
Shedding light on the Strawberry plantation in Verlem-Netravali, Naik clarified, ‘The plantation was started by Goa Mineral Foundation. In an attempt to bag credit, Subhash Velip wrongly claimed that the efforts were taken by AGDAG.’ Taking a dig at Subhash Velip, Naik said, ‘The chairman has failed to do justice to his post. He has not even implemented even a single project under the scheme.’
Goa TMC demands that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant sack the AGDAG chairman and ensure that various long-overdue projects are completed in a timely manner.
