The Goa Trinamool Congress today further strengthened its base with former Congress North Goa District General Secretary Shri Shankar M Phadte joining the party along with the block-level leadership of the Porvorim unit which includes 10 executive members. The leaders were inducted into the party in the presence of AITC National Vice-President Shri Luizinho Faleiro and Lok Sabha MP & AITC Goa In-Charge Smt Mahua Moitra at the party office in Panaji.
Following his induction, Shri Phadte, an advocate by profession, said he was delighted to join the vibrant platform of Goa TMC. He said, ‘In 2017 when the BJP government was forced upon Goa, I was one of the few people who opposed it. But, Congress was simply not willing to form the government.’
Saying that the state government was rattled with the entry of TMC in Goa, Shri Phadte remarked that Trinamool Congress is the only party that can take on the ruling BJP.
AITC National Vice-President Shri Luizinho Faleiro welcomed the new grassroots leaders and said, ‘Shri Phadte is a dynamic block member. TMC is just not a political party. It is a movement and I know he will play a crucial role in the next phase of our action plan.’
Shri Phadte served as the Congress District General Secretary between October 2021 and November ’21. Before this, he held the position of Congress Block President from 2017 until October 2021.
