Goa Forest Department of the Eve of World Environment Day carried out plantation drive in the various places under the Jurisdiction of South Goa Division under the Guidance and Directions of Dy. Conservator of Forest, Shri Prem Kumar R., IFS along with Asst. Conservator of Forest, Shri DyaneshwarKudalkar and Sub-Divisional Forest Officer (Quepem) Shri MinguelFernandes.
The plantation activities in the Quepem Range was carried out at Shirvoi in Quepem Range in presence of Sub-Divisional Forest Officer (Quepem) Shri MinguelFernandes along with The range forest officer of Quepem Range Shri Prakash Naik and all the staff attached to the Range Forest Office, Quepem Range. Aroung 200 Nos. of Saplings were planted in the Shirvoi and adjourning areas.
The Forest department as a part of awareness among locals regarding the importance of tress, carried out plantation in collaboration with the Lalit Golf & Spa Resort, Canacona, in the property of the Resort. Where More than 600 saplings were planted. The plantation was carried out in presence of Dy. Conservator of Forest, Shri Prem Kumar R., IFS along with Asst. Conservator of Forest, Shri DyaneshwarKudalkar, The Range Forest Officer of Canacona Range Shri AnandMestri and Officials of the theLalit Golf & Spa Resort, Canacona.
The Dy. Conservator of Forest, Shri Prem Kumar R., IFS in his address to the staff and officials of the Lalit Golf & Spa Resort, Canacona, pressed upon the need for plantation and nurturing the trees planted, he also insisted the hotel industries to focus on eco-tourism as it can be major source of revenue to the economy of the state.
