Don’t destroy young doctors’ careers for political reasons: Adv Amit Palekar

Advocate Amit Palekar, President of the Aam Aadmi Party Goa Unit, has urged the Goa government not to destroy the careers of interns involved in the GMC drug episode for political reasons.

Five Goa Medical College and Hospital interns were allegedly found with drugs recently. Palekar responded by saying that, rather than pursuing the truth about the situation, the administration seems more concerned with rusticating the young doctors, which is sad.

The students will become doctors after the internship. Their career had been funded by the government. Palekar urged the government to make a thorough investigation and then take appropriate action.

Palekar said, “Drug issues must always be treated with care and sensitivity. The doctors cannot be found guilty unless an investigation is conducted. The administration has made their name public. It’s sad that one lady doctor was implicated in the incident, and it’s even more unfortunate that such words are coming from the administration”.

Palekar blamed the Goa Police Department for this, claiming that they failed to control the state’s drug problem. Palekar stated that the drug problem is no longer confined to the state’s coastal area, but has spread throughout the state.
