AAP National Youth Wing Vice President Cecille Rodrigues exposé video on the poor condition of Taleigao – Santa Cruz Bandh road sparked the PWD workers develop a temporary solution.
Rodrigues uncovered the PWD’s shoddy work earlier this week on the Taleigao-Santa Cruz Bandh road. Rodrigues criticised Taleigao MLA Jennifer Monserrate in a video she released on social media for the road’s poor condition, claiming that Monserrate joined the BJP in the guise of development but has failed to provide proper roads.
Rodrigues further said that the Taleigao-Santa Cruz Bandh road has been damaged for the past two years. The exact same patch was hotmixed ahead of the elections. However, following the rain, the road has once again been destroyed because PWD contractors utilised subpar materials.
AAP Taleigao volunteers led by Rodrigues staged a protest in August against the dire state of the Taleigao-Santa Cruz Bandh road. After which, the Executive Engineer of PWD department division II promised to fix it and in weeks time the potholes were filled with a temporary solution.
Rodrigues, however, discovered the PWD’s subpar job when she visited the same location on September 16. The road was patched up using big rocks, loose stones, and loose cement, endangering commuters. According to Rodrigues, six accidents have occurred on the same stretch of road.
After Rodrigues released video exposing the poor condition of road, the road has been patched with mud. However, it is merely a short-term fix, as the road has not yet been hotmixed. The bad roads in Taleigao must be permanently fixed, Rodrigues demanded.
