*Allies back Mamata as TMC counters ‘anti-Hindu’ propaganda*
Soon after the news of the TMC-MGP alliance broke out, the BJP IT cell activated its machinery to push propaganda to label Didi’s party as anti-Hindu. This, however, was not the first time TMC was targeted by the BJP on religious lines.
Decoding the Hindu identity has been one of the prominent agendas of BJP, but TMC has given the perfect reply by questioning the authority of BJP leaders who have taken the Hindutva burden on their shoulders.
On Didi’s last visit to Goa, in a loud and clear message to the BJP, Didi exclaimed, ‘I’m Hindu, I don’t need Hindu certificate’.
MGP, Trinamool Congress’ ally in Goa, has also come out in support of the party.
‘When 70% of Hindus in Bengal voted for the TMC against a so-called Hindu party to make it win with an absolute majority, how can you say TMC is anti-Hindu?’ MGP Chief Deepak Dhavalikar was quoted as saying.
The allegations have once again resurfaced in the wake of Mamata Banerjee’s arrival in Goa.
The party is, however, leaving no stone unturned to counter BJP this time, stating that TMC stands for ‘Temple, Church and Mosque’.
It’s up to BJP now, how do they question the religious identity of the daughter of a priest who has joined hands with a Hindutva party in the state of Goa.
