Accused Arrested for Vehicle Theft and Fraudulent Activities in Panaji; Recovery of Stolen Scooters and Bike in Kolhapur.
Panaji, 10th July 2023: In a significant breakthrough, the Panaji Police Station has successfully registered multiple crimes and recovered stolen vehicles, leading to the arrest of an accused person involved in theft and fraudulent activities.
On 5th July 2023, Mr. Sachin Usgaonkar, a resident of Chimbel, Goa, filed a written complaint stating that an individual named Mr. Saddam Jamadar attempted to steal his white-colored 6G Activa Scooter, which was parked outside his office near Sharma Transport Shop No. 1 in Patto, Panaji. The accused, Mr. Saddam Jamadar, was caught red-handed during the act.
During the course of the investigation, three owners of rent-a-bike businesses in Panaji approached the Panaji Police Station and reported similar incidents involving the accused, Mr. Saddam Jamadar. They stated that he had produced fake identification documents, including fake MDL and Aadhaar Card, to rent Activa Scooters under different names. However, he failed to return the scooters within the agreed time and started avoiding their calls. The owners suspected that the accused intended to sell the scooters for illegal monetary gain. Consequently, separate cases were registered under Section 406 and 419 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
As the investigation progressed, a team from the Panaji Police Station visited Kolhapur, Maharashtra, and successfully recovered three Activa 6G Scooters and one Duke Bike, all of which were connected to the crimes registered in Panaji and Calangute Police Stations. These vehicles were found in different parts of Kolhapur and Satara districts.
During interrogation, the accused, Mr. Saddam Jamadar, confessed to changing the registration numbers of the vehicles and selling two Activa 6G scooters and the Duke Bike through the online marketplace OLX to different customers for a total amount of Rs. 2 lakhs.
It was discovered that the accused had a previous criminal record and was currently out on bail for a similar crime at the Calangute Police Station.
