AAP submits memo to PWD Labour Supply Society, calling for a revised advertisement to be published

The Aam Aadmi Party delegation on Friday submitted a memorandum of protest to the PWD Labour Supply Society’s office in Altinho, calling for a revised advertisement on new posts to be published, stating that knowledge of Konkani is “essential”.

The society had advertised new positions on Friday, describing Konkani proficiency as “desirable” rather than “essential”. The memorandum urged that knowledge of Konkani be considered “essential” for all government positions so that Goan candidates would be given precedence.

The delegation led by AAP Vice President Adv. Surel Tilve along with AAP VP Valmiki Naik, AAP National Youth Wing Cecille Rodrigues, AAP leader Sunil Signapurkar and Sarfaraz Sheikh, demanded to the Manager of the society that a corrigendum be issued by Monday to correct the same.

Tilve said, “A total of 38 posts were advertised for skilled and unskilled labour by the Society. Such modifications are made by the department to fill up the posts with their closest and loved ones. Consequently, many Goans do not get government jobs”.

Tilve stated that in connection with this, a delegation from the AAP will also visit the Directorate of Official Language. Although CM Pramod Sawant is in charge of the Official Language department, he hasn’t done anything to promote Konkani language. The government agencies consistently make the same error by stating in their advertisements that knowledge of Konkani is “desirable” rather than “essential.”
