AAP marks Gandhi Jayanti with Career Guidance workshop in Benaulim
“AAP has already begun empowering youth for employment”
AAP National Executive Member and Goa Vice President Capt Venzy Viegas
On Gandhi Jayanti AAP Goa’s Benaulim youth unit took a step to empower youth to self reliance. The workshop is being taken on skill development, how to take interviews and how to manage a career in the hospitality industry. Around a 100 youth from the Constituency of Benaulim attended the event. The event was addressed by AAP National Executive Member and Goa Vice President Capt Venzy Viegas and the youth received guidance from AAP Youth Wing National Vice President Cecille Rodrigues.
The Aam Aadmi Party is taking forward its goal of developing skill in Goan youth to help solve Goa’s unemployment crisis. A 100 plus youth participated and were trained in workshops on Career Guidance Skill Development, How to face an interview and Careers in hospitality. The youth of Goa is finding it difficult today in choosing its future. Many of them do not receive adequate guidance on how to plan their future nor do they receive skill training on how to achieve their dreams. This workshop was organised to fill that gap. The sitting ZP of Benaulim Hanzel Fernandes who is also the youth General Secretary of Goa led his team in Benaulim including Benaulim Youth General Secretary Benaulim Adv Lancy Rodrigues along with Capt Venzy Viegas painstakingly met youth and their families to understand what skills they needed before settling down on this workshop.
The Chief Minister of Delhi the Honorable Shri Arvind Kejriwal last month had announced in Goa that every youth will be given employment after the formation of the AAP government and till the employment is not provided, one youth of every family will be given financial support of Rs 3,000 per month or INR 5,000 a month if they had lost their jobs due to the fall in tourism or the mining ban. He also announced that 80 percent of jobs in the private sector will be reserved for the youth of Goa along with the establishment of a skill university.
In Delhi the AAP has already set up many initiatives to shore up employability of youth, from it’s entrepreneurship curriculum, forming a skill university connecting youth to mentors via a mentorship program. Once AAP comes to power in Goa many of these initiatives will be replicated across the state.
“Mahatama Gandhi said that you must be the change you want to see in the world. Keeping these words in mind today without a single MLA we are working to provide adequate guidance from professionals to our youth. Once we come to power in Goa these workshops and guidance’s will be worked into the education curriculum and inculcated into the school and college day to day functioning.” said AAP National Executive Member and Goa Vice President Capt Venzy Viegas
“On Gandhi Jayanti we decided to hold this initiative as the youth team of Benaulim, as we found that many youth needed guidance, guidance that has not been given so far in formal education. Arvind Kejriwal has worked to incorporate these initiatives in the curriculum of colleges and schools, therefore we thought tha we should bring this model to Benaulim” said Hanzel Fernandes AAP Goa General Secretary (Youth)
“Career guidance for youth is very important. The turnout speaks volumes of how youth need the AAP model in Goa. We need to work together to empower our youth strongly” said Cecille Rodrigues AAP Youth Wing National Vice President
