A Late evening surveillance drive was carried out by FDA officials at Vasco. The food stalls outside Vasco railway station were inspected. During the inspection it was observed that vendors were not following proper hygiene, food articles were kept uncovered and surrounding area was filthy. The local municipal authorities also arrived at the site and confiscated the vessal, gas range and soiled articles which were blocking public access. All open food articles kept on newspaper was also disposed. The vendors were served a notice and legal action will be initiated. Subsequently 2 fast food stalls namely Sai Ashirvad and Star fast food were found preparing food on the footpath. They were directed to remove all equipment from footpath and spot notice was served. Also Hot chips outlets and Manthan kaju were inspected and misbranded items were detained. A statutory sample of Kaju was drawn earlier from Manthan Kajuwala operated by Ratan Borana which was reported misbranded, he was still found using same labels inspite of direction and hence this stock was detained. A surveillance check on used oil using the Testometer was also done on fast food outlets. All sample were found Passing. Value of food items detained dry fruits worth 1.9 lakhs and chips worth 25 thousand were detained.
