The Goa Police responded to a call from the PCR Panaji regarding a locked flat at Leena Apartment, located opposite the Tata showroom in Chicalim. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the door was locked from the inside. With the assistance of the Fire Brigade, they managed to open the door and found a man lying unconscious in the washroom.
The individual was transported to SDH Chicalim by a PCR vehicle. However, upon arrival at the hospital, the on-duty medical officer declared him brought dead. The deceased has been identified as Prakash Sawant, a 68-year-old resident of Leena Apartment, who lived alone while his two sons reside abroad.
Following the discovery, an inquest, panchanama was conducted, and the body was preserved at SDH Margao for medico-legal formalities. The investigation is currently being handled by PSI Plato Carvalho of Vasco Police Station. Further inquiries are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding Prakash Sawant’s death.
