In a dramatic turn of events, the Crime Branch of Goa has launched an extensive investigation into a prostitution racket linked to an escort website, leading to the summoning of three taxi drivers believed to be involved. The drivers, operating in North Goa, are under scrutiny as authorities delve deeper into the illicit activities surrounding this notorious escort service.
On December 2, 2024, police acted swiftly after receiving credible information about the racket. The drivers—Imam Sutar from Paliem, Umesh Bagli from Betim, and Zeeshan Ali Sheikh from Mapusa—are being interrogated regarding their potential roles in transporting individuals connected to the prostitution ring. Their involvement raises serious questions about the extent of complicity within local taxi services.
The investigation has already seen the arrest of four key suspects: Syed Usman (54) from Andhra Pradesh, Mohammad Mohebbulla (30) from Gurgaon, Yogesh Kumar (42) from Delhi, and Subash Pradhan from Orissa. These individuals have been charged under multiple sections of the Information Technology Act and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act for operating an escort website that featured explicit images of women and facilitated illegal transactions.
Authorities revealed that these suspects used the website to lure customers by posting obscene photographs and providing contact information for direct communication. Upon confirming bookings, they coordinated with agents to finalise arrangements, with payments made through cash or digital platforms like Google Pay and Paytm. Alarmingly, taxi drivers reportedly received commissions for transporting women to clients, further entrenching the network of exploitation.
The operation is being led by Police Inspector Tushar Lotliker under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent Rajesh Kumar and Superintendent Rahul Gupta. As investigations continue, law enforcement is determined to dismantle this prostitution ring and hold all involved parties accountable.
