A 37-year-old man from Mauritius was arrested near Baina Beach, Mormugao, on November 20, 2024, for staying in India without valid travel documents. The accused, identified as Atish Indurjeet Ishur, a resident of Mahebourg, Mauritius, was apprehended during a routine investigation by the Mormugao Police.
The arrest was made following a complaint filed by Police Sub-Inspector Saidatta Naik, who stated that Atish was found in violation of the Foreigners Order, 1948, and the Foreigners Act, 1946. The case has been registered under Mormugao Police Station under sections 7(1)(3) of the Foreigners Order 1948 read with Section 14 of the Foreigners Act 1946.
Atish was taken into custody at 4:04 pm after he was found staying in Goa without valid travel documents, which is a serious contravention of Indian immigration laws. Intimation of his arrest was communicated to his mother, Mohini Kumari Ishur, via a WhatsApp call, as per legal protocol.
Police have confirmed that all Supreme Court guidelines regarding arrests were strictly followed. The investigation is being handled by PSI Stanley Gomes, and further inquiries are ongoing to determine the duration of the accused’s stay in India and the circumstances surrounding his presence in Goa.
