Panaji: Around 5,000 Goan youth were given initial offer letters by various companies duing the Mega Job Fair held at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium, Bambolim on November 8, making it one of the most successful event of the state government.
Sources in Goa government revealed that the Mega Job Fair held at Bambolim had stupendous response, due to which it had to be extended by another day. The job fair has come as a much needed respite for the youth, who are scouting for good employment opportunities.
As per the data collected by the state government from various firms that participated in the fair, more than 4,800 youth were shortlisted for various jobs, pending their final process during the fair.
To add to it, more than 500 youth were given on the spot job offers by the companies, creating a history in Goa. The fair was participated by more than 170 companies including cruise liners, airlines, Pharma, Hotel, Hospitality, IT, Banking and Real Estate sectors.
M/s Sunlight Media, the event management company selected for the project had taken up massive publicity campaign to attract youth for the event. More than 25,000 youth had visited the event. Considering this figure, one out of five youth who entered the fair were given the initial offers.
Sources stated that there is a demand to hold similar fairs after every six months to bridge the gap between industry and the skilled youth.
