Goa assembly: AAP raises the most questions

Aam Aadmi Party Goa Unit President Ad. Amit Palekar stated that AAP has once again proved its competence as the voice of Goans by raising most questions in the recent monsoon session.

Palekar said, “With only two MLAs, the AAP has raised 306 questions in the assembly session. AAP Benaulim MLA Captain Venzy Viegas asked 172 questions during the session, the most of any MLA. On the other hand AAP Velim MLA Engineer Cruz Silva has posed 134 questions”.

While addressing the press conference at the party’s Panaji office, Palekar further said, “AAP MLAs have proposed many solutions for the betterment of Goans, despite being mocked by the ruling party on many occasions. Besides talking about their constituency’s woes, they also raised issues that affect Goa as a whole”.

AAP Benaulim MLA Capt. Venzy Viegas has emphasised numerous issues pertaining to health, education, and the power sector and has also called for allocating 25% of the total budget for education. Additionally, he suggested that Goa be designated as a Workation destination and urged the government to amend the Communidade Act so that the attorney and Communidade President would have the authority to deal with encroachments.

AAP MLA Capt Venzy Viegas claimed whenever AAP MLAs raised the issues concerning common people, there were some bunch of people from the ruling party mocked us. “We did not get answers to some of our questions from the ruling party, but our continuous follow up resulted in assurance from some of the ministers,” he continued.

AAP Velim MLA Engineer Cruz Silva said that his constituents were very happy as this was the first time Velim people’s concerns had been addressed at the assembly session. Velim people followed up on every session and thanked me for raising their issues.

According to AAP Vice President Ramrao Wagh, when the main opposition party was unable to play the role of opposition as expected, the AAP MLAs fought for Goans. The AAP raised the issue of education during assembly in a way that was rare before.

Wagh urged the government to consider the suggestions proposed by the AAP MLAs and thanked Goans for sending questions to the party.
