In a recent operation, the Valpoi police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against an individual for the illegal transportation of a bull. The incident occurred in the early hours of December 4, 2024, when officers detained Raju, a 23-year-old driver from Belgaum, Karnataka, at Pali Junction in Thane Sattari, Goa. He was found transporting a white male bull in an Ashok Leyland pickup truck registered as KA-24-A-2000.
According to SDPO Bicholim Jivba Dalvi, the bull was being moved without any necessary documentation, prompting the police to take action. The FIR includes multiple charges under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and the Transport of Animal Rules 2001.
The police have seized the pickup truck used in the transport and have placed the bull in the care of Jai Shri Ram Gosavardhan Kendra in Nanus Valpoi for its protection and welfare. Raju has been arrested, and further investigations are being conducted by ASI Dattatray Gawas under the supervision of PI Videsh Shirodkar and SDPO Jivba Dalvi, with overall oversight from Superintendent of Police Akshat Kaushal.
Authorities continue to emphasize their commitment to enforcing animal welfare laws and ensuring proper treatment of animals within their jurisdiction.
