Following numerous accidents, a meeting-cum-inspection was conducted at Borvon Waddo junction, Nachinola on Monday in the presence of Aldona MLA Carlos Alvares Ferreira along with Bardez deputy collector Yashaswini B (IAS), police inspector of Mapusa Traffic Cell Tushar Lotlikar, Assistant engineer PWD (Roads), Satyendra Bhobe and Junior Engineer, Walke, Nachinola sarpanch Freddy Fernandes, panch member Sanjeevani Khalap, local residents including Robert De Melo and Rocque Fernandes.
During the meeting, citizens pointed out that the junction is an accident-prone spot owing to the presence of the large triangle that creates confusion for vehicles navigating around it, and often leads to vehicles moving across on the same lane. This has led to several accidents, citizens pointed out.
“There have been numerous accidents at this spot. In view of this, the deputy collector made some good suggestions, including demolishing the triangle, and instead creating a temporary circle with barrels and proper signages. The PWD’s assistant engineer has agreed to have a temporary circle and examine the traffic flow, and then arrive at a permanent solution based on public feedback. Accordingly, a final plan will take shape and will be implemented,” Ferreira said.
He thanked the panchayat for bringing the issue to his notice, and added that he looks forward to a good resolution
The Aldona legislator also expressed his gratitude to the officers for “having been prompt in attending the meeting and having proffered their valuable suggestions for the betterment of the citizens”.
