Political Pulse Series: Aam Aadmi Party
AAP: It may not seem like it but the AAP has been in operation in Goa for the last nine years. Goa was among the first States the party ventured outside of Delhi soon after it won its first election in Delhi and has a presence here since then. All the party has to show for it is one zilla parishad member and a handful of panch members and civic councillors.
Not much in this day and age. Instead what the party has is a niche voter base for itself that is likely only to grow as the years go by. While the AAP is likely to open its account this time round, the second time at trying, its steady progress has given it an unique identity that people can identify with.
Despite its best efforts, a handful of candidates is the best the AAP can hope for ahead of the upcoming elections. To score higher than that, they will have to wait a few more years to expand their base.
