The Goa Congress is urging the government to introduce a subsidy for coconuts as prices have skyrocketed to an alarming ₹70 for each coconut. This surge has placed a heavy burden on families, especially during festive seasons when coconuts are essential. Former GPCC President Girish Chodankar warned that if the issue isn’t addressed soon, public agitation may ensue.
Chodankar further criticized the government for allocating significant funds to unnecessary events, which often lead to corruption, while neglecting the pressing needs of citizens. He called on the government to prioritise the welfare of the people of Goa and take immediate action to ease this financial strain.
