Panaji – Law and Order situation in Goa is at all time low with attacks happening on innocent persons in the presence of Police. Is Goa going Uttar Pradesh way?, questioned Congress President Amit Patkar.
Referring to the attack on Congress Treasurer Orville Dourado and others just few meters away from Verna Police Station, Amit Patkar has condemned the Government for its failure to nab the attackers despite written complaint being filed at Verna Police Station.
Treasurer of the Congress Party and our Last Assembly Elections Cortalim Candidate were brutally assaulted by Adv. Spencer Viegas and Adv. Omkar Dalvi in the Verna Police Station on Friday 21st April 2023 at 03:15 pm when Police Inspector Diego Gracias was present in his office situated just 5 meters away from the place of incident. The assault took place in the presence of two Constables and a Police Sub Inspector, claimed Amit Patkar.
Verna Police Station was in the recent past adjudged as the Best Police Station in Goa. Our functionaries suffered severe injuries from the attack and also lost valuables like Iphone & Spectacles. This is an example for daylight goondaism, stated Mr. Amit Patkar. He further wondered as to what could be the fate of innocent citizens if such murderous attacks take place in the precincts of the best police station in the state.
I demand with the Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant to immediately give directions to the Police Officials to arrest the attackers and order a probe of the entire incident, Amit Patkar said.
