Anjuna Police arrested four persons in connection with the gang attack on a New Delhi based tourists at Anjuna on March 05,2023.
Police on Sunday arrested four persons for their involvement in the crime, after the victims made viral video of attack on them through the social media.
Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant speaking to mediapersons on Monday said that such kind of incidents would not be tolerated.
Earlier during the day, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Mapusa) Jivba Dalvi said that on March 05, 2023 one Ashwini Kumar Chandrani (47) from New Delhi had filed a formal complaint that a gang attacked him and his family with fist blows, kicks belts, baseball and knife causing them the injuries.
He said that the initial complaint was registered but during the investigation it was revealed that they were attacked with knife and other weapons on the vital parts of the body.
Dalvi said that with the help of CCTV footages, the police identified accused involved in the assault and arrested them. He said that the accused Royston Reginaldo Dias, Nyron Reginaldo Dias, kashinath Vishvor Agawadekar and Joseph Alex Lobo were arrested by the police.
He said that more arrests would be made soon.
Back in Panaji, the chief minister addressed a press conference said that such incidents would not be tolerated.
“We will not tolerate any interference with the police and law and order. The law and order would be strictly enforced,” he said adding that the illegality in the tourism business would not be tolerated.
He also said that the people in the tourism trade should verify the background of the staff before employing them.
