AAP volunteers help Chodankar family rebuild home destroyed by Tauktae

As a result of the BJP government’s failure to provide timely and sufficient assistance to families affected by the cyclone Tauktae, many have been struggling to recover from the devastating impact of the natural disaster. In one such case in Mapusa, the local volunteers of the Aam Aadmi Party reached out to an affected household and helped them to rebuild their home which was wrecked by the cyclone.

Mapusa residents Vijaya Chodankar and Vibha Chodankar were forced to live in dismal conditions after cyclone Tauktae damaged their house last year. With one having cancer and the other having spinal problem, the family was in severe distress.

After learning of their plight while executing a door-to-door campaign, the Mapusa volunteers began working to resolve it. Collaborating with other organizations and social workers, the AAP team highlighted the issue, raised funds, and rebuilt the home of the Chodankars within two months.

The AAP Mapusa volunteers involved in the effort included Salman Khan, Abdul Rahim Sheikh, Poonam Ajgaonkar, Shailendra Mayekar, Asha Mane, and Raju Awadkar. They joined hands with the humanitarian relief wing of the Jamaat e Islami Hind, and other social workers like Pravin Asolkar, Raghav Shetty and Siddharth Mandrekar to provide much-needed relief to their fellow Mhapsekar family.
