Aam Aadmi Party candidates Gorakhnath Kerkar, Vishnu Naik, Ad. Surel Tilve, Anup Kurtarkar and Sandesh Telekar Dessai filed their nominations for assembly elections from Cumbarjua, Siolim, Ponda, Canacona and Fatorda respectively on Thursday.
AAP Cumbarjua candidate Gorakhnath Kerkar said, “Since the last 10-20 years, the incumbent MLA, once a MGP candidate, then a Congress candidate, and now affiliated with the BJP, has been ruling in Cumbarjua and has only been working for his own development. Cumbarjua people have difficulty getting access to basic necessities like water. There is an unemployment problem. However, the legislator has only prospered at the expense of the voters”.
“After AAP forms the government, my main goal will be to resolve the unemployment issue in Cumbarjua. I will focus on providing basic amenities such as uninterrupted water and power supply to the people in Cumbarjua. I will also focus on building better roads and improving infrastructure. Additionally, I will ensure Delhi like model implemented here”, he added.
Aam Aadmi Party Siolim candidate Vishnu Naik criticised Siolim former MLA Dayanand Mandrekar and Siolim former MLA Vinod Palyekar for their failure to provide basic amenities in the constituency.
He said, “Despite Siolim’s fame as a tourist destination, it lacks good roads and uninterrupted power. The residents of Siolim need a change, and the AAP is the only party that can make it happen. My objective is to provide basic amenities to residents of Siolim. AAP national convener and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s vision is a new hope for the state. AAP will provide employment to every household, unemployment allowances until people find jobs, a monthly allowance for women above 18 years of age, uninterrupted power and water supply, high quality education and health infrastructure, among other provisions”.
AAP Ponda candidate Adv. Surel Tilve expressed that because of the government’s lack of vision Ponda has been witnessing haphazard development. In Ponda, there is garbage issue while most roads are in bad shape. The Ponda Market Complex is still incomplete and despite new project is ready the vendors are still conducting their business at temporary market place.
Talking about his vision for the Constituency he said, “We have a sub-district hospital in Ponda, but it lacks basic facilities. I intend to work toward it in order to make it a full-fledged hospital. Ponda people have been facing problems due to sewerage work which is going on for the last seven years. I want to work towards fixing this problem. I also want to build a Gaushala for stray cattle and solve the issue of stray animals and want to rejuvenate the Khadpaband Nallah which has a variety of biodiversity”.
AAP Canacona candidate Anup Kudtarkar said, “A lot of problems have arisen in Canacona in the past few years. People are not getting jobs. The sitting MLA switched from the Congress to the BJP promising development, but he has only developed his pocket. Canacona’s economy is largely dependent on tourism, which has been negatively impacted by the pandemic and lockdown. Those who are dependent on the industry are facing a financial crisis and are unable to meet their basic needs. Youth in Goa are tired of being cheated of jobs, and are glad that AAP will bring transparency to the recruitment process”.
AAP Fatorda candidate Sandesh Telekar Dessai said, “Apart from providing basic amenities like unrestricted water supply and electricity, good roads, doorstep services, AAP will also strive to come up with a solution to the Sonsoddo problem within a year of forming the government”.
Adding he said, “I will focus on the development of the people of Fatorda, including setting up a sports academy for the local youth and to create a platform for local farmers to sell their produce. It is my desire to establish a recreational center for the elderly. I also intend to introduce environment-friendly industries to solve the problem of unemployment in the Constituency besides motivating and helping them to set up their own businesses”.
