SDPO Mapusa Jivba Dalvi highlighted Goa is a tourist State and the problem of drugs peddling is existing while addressing the media on the sidelines of a I’ll effect of drugs and awareness programme at (DMC) Dyanprasarak Mandals College and research centre Mapusa, on Friday day.
The programme aimed at creating awareness on drug abuse and use of music to combat drug abuse among the youth.

Conceding that large number of teenagers are being victims to narcotics and alcohol abuse, the Goa police emphasised the need to create awareness amongst the general public including students about the ill-effects of addiction said DYSP Jivba Dalvi.
maupsa DYSP Jivba Dalvi said that a multi-prompt approach such as education, sensitisation and awareness besides prosecution of offenders is to be taken to ensure the youth stay away from the menace.
There is a possibility that a lot of youngsters are taking charm in this due to peer pressure, depression, anxiety or the entire idea of fitting in a friend circle. It is essential that a collaborative effort is initiated. It is police along with doctors and various other social organisations that have been dealing in this area need to come together.
“A lot of teenagers are being trapped in drug and alcohol abuse, and it is important to tap it at an early stage. It is very important for the social institutions, police authorities and the administration to go amongst the people, students and the schools to educate them about the ill-effects of drugs and alcohol,ed to create awareness amongst the general public including students about the ill-effects of addiction said DYSP Jivba Dalvi.
